Senior referee charged with indecently assaulting teen referee at junior football competition

A senior referee is accused of indecently assaulting a 16-year-old referee during a national children's football tournament in Canberra.
ACT Police received reports of "incidents" that occurred during team-building activities before the Kanga Cup, which is a junior football competition held every year in Canberra, on July 1.
Officers allege the 66-year-old senior referee indecently assaulted the 16-year-old girl on the afternoon of July 1 with "several people witnessing it".
The man was arrested last night when police went to his accommodation.
"The New Zealand resident has been charged with one count of indecency against a young person under special care," police said.
The man faced ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The investigation is continuing.
