Grandfather attacked with axe during Toowoomba home invasion

A grandfather has been attacked with an axe during a violent home invasion in Toowoomba.
George McDougall, a 68-year-old retired army officer, was struck in the chest after confronting strangers who had broken in while he and his wife were sleeping early this morning.
He was rushed to Toowoomba Hospital with serious injuries.

Police are still searching for two men. (Nine)
Police are searching for the two men who were captured on CCTV walking in the street about 6.20am.
It's understood the suspects took off down Trousdell Court after the attack.
"We will keep obviously keep investigating this until we find those offenders," Commissioner Katarina Carroll said.
Numerous residents told 9News they didn't feel safe in their own homes after the attack.
