Officeworks recalls power bank charger over fire risk

A magnetic power bank sold across Australia that charges iPhones has been recalled over a risk of short-circuiting and catching fire.
The recall was issued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for the Comsol Pty Ltd 10000mAh 20W USB-A & USB-C magnetic wireless power bank sold at Officeworks stores across the country.
The product risks short-circuiting, overheating and catching alight, the consumer watchdog warned.

"There is a risk of a serious burn injury and/or property damage if the battery overheats and catches fire," the ACCC said.
It advised anyone who had the charger to cease using it immediately.
The power bank is used to wirelessly charge iPhone 12, 13 and 14 models.
It can be returned to Officeworks for a full refund.
