Revealed: The top 20 suburbs in Australia where nobody wants to sell their homes

If you've got a good thing going, why give it up? That's how these property owners feel who are living in spots arounds the country where people don't seem to want to move.

According to data from Henderson Advocacy, a Sydney-based Buyers Agency, there are 20 suburbs around Australia with very few new property listings.

With one state dominating on the list more than the rest, here's a look at the top 20 suburbs across the nation where homeowners aren't keen on selling.

Positions on the list are calculated based on the volume of property listings compared to the suburb's population and occupied dwellings.

In 20th position is Canning Vale in Western Australia.

Just over 20 kilometres from the state's capital of Perth, 34,000 people call this area home.

The region had nine new listings in the last month.

Some 36 kilometres from the Sydney CBD, Bonnyrigg, in New South Wales, has landed in 19th spot.

A little under 9000 people live in the suburb. 

There were 14 new listings in the last month in Bonnyrigg.

A leafy area east of Adelaide's metro, this rugged region is home to over 70,000 South Australians.

People here don't seem to be to keen on moving, with just seven new listings posted in the last month.

Staying in SA, Aldgate, 21 kilometres south-east of the city, has landed in 17th spot.

There were 18 new listings here in the last month.

About 15 kilometres north-west of Melbourne's CBD, Gladstone Park in Victoria, has come in at 15th place.

According to the data, there were 18 new property listings in Gladstone Park in the last month.

Home to just over 6000 Victorians, Aspendale Gardens, south-east of Melbourne CBD, had eight new property listings in the last month.

It has land in 15th place. 

14. Margate, Tasmania

A small seaside town on the Channel Highway between North-West Bay and the Snug Tiers, Margate in Tasmania has landed in 14th place.

With fewer than 4000 people calling the sleepy town home, there were only eight new property listings in the last month.

With a name as appealing as Sunshine, it's no wonder that people in this suburb are content on staying.

There were nine new property listings in Sunshine, Victoria, in the last month.

Known for its iconic steam engine, the Puffing Billy, the historic town of Belgrave has landed in 12th position.

Roughly 36 kilometres from Melbourne's CBD, there were nine new property listings here in the last month.

Almost 50 kilometres west of Sydney's metro area, Bidwill has just missed out on the top 10.

About 4,200 people live in the area.

There were eight new property listings here in the last month, according to the data.

The quaint Canberran suburb of Nicholls has landed in ninth spot on the list, with just six new property listings posted in the last month.

About 7000 people call the suburb home. 

8. Bellevue Heights, SA

Just under 3000 people live in Bellevue Heights in SA and they aren't keen on moving any time soon.

Six property listings were posted in the last month, which has seen the spot land in eighth place.

The tiny town of Uraidla in South Australia is home to fewer than 600 people.

Five listings were posted in the last month, seeing the area finish seventh. 

6. Brookfield, Queensland

A rural residential suburb in the City of Brisbane, Brookfield has a population of just over 3000 people.

There were five new listings here in the last month, which has seen the spot come in at number six.

About 36 kilometres west of Sydney's CBD, Greenfield Park, in the City of Fairfield local district, has landed in fifth place.

There five new listings in the area in the last month.

A little over 3000 people call Wandin home, which is 40 kilometres east of Melbourne's city area.

Coming in at fourth, there were five new property listings here in the last month.

Located on Sydney's Northern Beaches, about 20 kilometres from the city and nestled in the hills behind the peninsula's iconic coastline, Cromer has landed in third place.

St Johns Park is a suburb of Sydney, 35 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD.

It's only narrowly missed the top spot, landing in second place with a total of five listings in the last month.

Located on the Sutherland Shire, Illawong has taken out the top spot on the list.
