A "vibrant" woman who was killed by a falling branch at a botanical garden had only just moved to Australia before her death.
Angelique de Wet, 28, was killed and husband Collin, 33, suffered "significant" injuries in the freak accident at Darwin Botanic Gardens on Sunday.
The pair married in March 2021 in South Africa before moving to Darwin six months ago.
De Wet's uncle, Willie Bezuidenhout, who also lives in Australia, said "the most beautiful souls (are) taken so early".
"My heart is broken, only a few months ago you called and said how happy you and Collin are coming over to Darwin to make a living in Australia, and now you are gone," he wrote online.
"I am going to miss you so much, you were still so young and this is too soon."
Her mother Magda Odendaal wrote on Facebook she had "no words".
"Mommy has no words... mommy will miss you very much every day," she said.
A fundraiser set up by the NT South African Association described de Wet as having "an adventurous spirit and a zest for life" and said she "touched the hearts of everyone she met".
"She was more than just a happy-go-lucky lady, she was a beacon of joy and positivity," it said.
"Her infectious laughter, warm smile, and kind-hearted nature endeared her to many."
It said the couple had been "full of hope" when they relocated to Australia.
Emergency services were called to the George Brown Botanic Gardens at about 12.50pm on Sunday, NT Police said.
The 33-year-old man was rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital.
The park was due to reopen to visitors this morning, Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife said, after being closed since Sunday.
