A man has been charged with murder after an alleged alcohol-fuel brawl broke out between two men in South Australia.
Peter Smith, 65, was allegedly beaten to death inside his Bond Street apartment in Mount Gambier, five hours south-east of Adelaide, at 3pm yesterday, according to police.
He was taken to hospital and died a short time later.
A 65-year-old man who has no fixed address was arrested at the scene.
He has since been charged with murder,
Police believe the two men were known to each other.
Neighbour Johanna Jarrad told 9News Smith a "good guy."
"He always talked to me, said hello, he was just a nice guy," she told 9News.
"It's terrible, I've been living here for 16 years and nothing's ever happened like that."
Neighbours who claim to have overheard the incident say it was an alcohol-fueled argument that spiralled out of control.
