Brenton Ragless presents Adelaide’s 6pm one-hour bulletin alongside fellow South Australian Kate Collins.
Moving to the Nine News Adelaide news desk in 2014, the former Nine News weather presenter sees his role as a “real privilege”.
“I grew up watching Nine News with the legendary Kevin Crease and Rob Kelvin, and I’m honoured to be at the news desk presenting you all of the local and national stories as they unfold,” he said. “There’s a new momentum and vibrancy in Adelaide, with the Oval and the Medical Research Centre, and the transformation of this city. In this time and place, it is a great opportunity to be bringing the news to Adelaide each weeknight.”
Brenton presented Nine’s 2014 South Australian Election coverage, alongside Laurie Oakes and Amanda Vanstone, as well as hosting TODAY over the summer.
An added highlight to his Nine News duties each year is co-hosting the Credit Union Christmas Pageant, the South Australian institution a personal favourite for Brenton.
Before joining Nine, Brenton had gained national exposure in providing commentary on fires and other disasters as a media spokesperson for the SA Country Fire Service as well as a fire and emergencies reporter for ABC Radio.
Born in South Australia, Brenton has completed a Masters Degree in Communication Management, a Diploma of Business in Tourism and an extensive list of emergency management modules.
Married to Hayley since 2008, Brenton is keen cyclist and swimmer, and is father to sons Edan and James.
He is a passionate supporter of many South Australian charities. He is an ambassador for the Country Fire Service, Professional Firefighters Foundation, ‘Watch Around Water’ safety initiative, Asthma Foundation, Phoenix Society, Junction Australia, Cancer Council Sunsmart Initiative, Masters Swimming and the SA State Aquatic and Leisure Centre.
He also lends a hand in the preservation and promotion of Australia’s railway heritage and his father’s own classic fire engine – a brilliant re, open cab 1961 International.
