Buckingham Palace has released the last official portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II, taken in May 2022.

Taken by Ranald Mackechnie, it was shot ahead of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations and shows the 96-year-old sovereign posing at her Windsor Castle home.

The pearl brooches she wore in the photo were an 18th birthday present from her father George VI in 1944.
