Nick Kyrgios' mother has allegedly been held at gunpoint by a man who then stole the tennis star's fluorescent green Tesla in Canberra.
The sportsman and his manager, Daniel Horsfall, were at the home this morning when Kyrgios' mother, Norlaila Kyrgios, heard a knock at the door and asked who was there.
According to a statement of facts tendered to the court by police, a man at the door replied "it's Chris".
Police said Ms Kyrgios unlocked the front door and partially opened it before she saw a long-barrel gun pointed at her.
She said a man wearing all-black clothing and a black face mask demanded that she give him the keys to the Tesla and told her to come outside and show him how to drive it.
Ms Kyrgios said she didn't know how to because it wasn't her vehicle, police said.
As the man got into the driver seat of the car, "she felt at this time that she had an opportunity while the firearm was not pointed at her to run back inside and screamed for help".
Kyrgios and Horsfall called triple zero.
Speaking to police later, Ms Kyrgios was "visibly shaken and frightened", telling police "she was so fearful that he was going to return to the house and 'blow a hole in the door'".
Kyrgios was able to tell police the location of his car using a Tesla app and also remotely applied an 80km/h speed limit to the vehicle.
About 15 minutes after the car was taken, police said they tracked it down to a street in the suburb of Watson.
"Police approached the Tesla, drew their issued firearm and aimed it towards the defendant" who then sped away, police said.
Police said they pursued with their sirens on, reaching 90km/h in a 50 zone "in an attempt to catch up to the green Tesla".
Throughout the pursuit, Kyrgios was providing updates on the Tesla's location, police said.
Police eventually ended the pursuit as the vehicle entered a school zone.
At 8.58am, the tracking system showed the Tesla had come to a stop. Four minutes later police located it and AFP Tactical Response units "manoeuvred their vehicle in front of the green Tesla to stop it from leaving".
The alleged car thief was in the driver's seat and refusing to get out, police said.
At 9.08am the man was arrested.
The 32-year-old faced ACT Magistrates Court charged with five offences including aggravated robbery, driving a stolen motor vehicle, furious driving and failing to stop for police.
He was denied bail.
