Two men have been charged after an alleged fight broke out at a venue on the Gold Coast, which left a security guard with a knife wound and police officers injured this morning.
Emergency services were called to a licensed venue on Classic Way in Burleigh Waters just after midnight following reports of a disturbance.
Police allege a security guard had attempted to evict two male patrons - aged 41 and 25 - when he was cut with a knife.
Another man, aged 37, tried to intervene when the pair struck him in the head, causing him to fall.
The duo allegedly continued to assault the man while he was on the ground.
Responding officers attempted to arrest the pair upon arrival but were sprayed with a fire extinguisher and had chairs launched at them.
Two male senior constables, aged 39 and 54, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the brawl.
The alleged offenders were taken into custody a short time later.
Police have charged a 41-year-old Biggera Waters with five counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and two counts of obstructing police.
A 25-year-old Helensvale man was charged with five counts of occasioning bodily harm and four counts of serious assault of police officer whilst armed, all whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.
Both are due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today.
