An urgent search is under way for a convicted killer and rapist who cut off his ankle monitoring device and has been on the run for more than 24 hours.
Paul Carr, 55, was last seen around Fremantle in Western Australia about 2.45pm on Wednesday.
He was jailed after raping and bashing a teenage girl inside her Kalgoorlie home in 1987, then killing a man in NSW shortly after that.
He was released from prison last year on strict supervision.
Carr is described as having a medium build with short hair and face stubble.
He was last seen wearing dark clothing with hi-vis stripes, a hat and potentially a backpack.
Anyone who sees Carr is urged not to approach him and instead call police.
