Born and bred in Adelaide, Will McDonald joined the team in 2004 and presents Nine Live Adelaide, Adelaide’s 4pm afternoon news bulletin, and Nine News on weekends.
Will began his journalism career in 2000, moving to Port Lincoln for Southern Cross News. Writing, filming and editing his own stories, it was a brilliant entry into the news industry, and where he honed his skills. A year after landing in Port Lincoln, Will moved to Port Pirie to anchor the local news bulletin.
This put him in good stead to join the Nine News team, where he now reports, produces and presents news stories during the week for Nine Live Adelaide and moves to the newsdesk at weekends.
He is relishing Nine’s new one-hour news format, giving Adelaide audiences the only choice for a more in depth news
service at 6pm.
“We get the chance to be able to expand on the news of the day,” Will says. “We can let a story breathe and flow, and
not be restricted by time.”
Will is a product of the Northern suburbs - born at Modbury Hospital, his family living at Modbury North and attending
The Heights School, at Modbury Heights.
When not in the newsroom, Will can be found on his beloved motorbike, a BMW R1150R, somewhere in the back roads of the Adelaide Hills or along the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Will recently travelled around Australia on his motorbike, clocking up 20,000kms over eight weeks, camping along the
coast.
In summer, he gets off the motorbike and onto his pushbike, cycling through the Adelaide Hills and being an active
member of Adelaide’s strong biking community.
